Cooranbong Public School NAIDOC Week 2017 celebrations

Cooranbong Public School celebrated NAIDOC Week with a special community event.

The importance, resilience and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages was the focus of national celebrations marking NAIDOC Week 2017.
The importance, resilience and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages was the focus of national celebrations marking NAIDOC Week 2017.

Students, staff, parents and the community came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week by participating in a range of cultural activities, including traditional dance, painting, making dough boys, traditional Aboriginal games, weaving and learning about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flag meanings.

The school was supported by students from the Hunter Sports High School Aboriginal Dance Group who commenced the celebrations with a number of dance performances and continued to assist students with activities throughout the afternoon.
